Welcome Home - the Nordic Cabin made its debut at Downtown Design Dubai

At this year’s Downtown Design Dubai, Nordic Homeworx introduced the Nordic Cabin, a calm, welcoming space designed to bring the feeling of “home” into the middle of a busy fair. Inspired by the cozy, wooden cabins found throughout Sweden’s forests, the space encouraged visitors to slow down, breathe and connect with natural materials.

The cabin was built entirely using Kährs wood flooring, including planks reused from earlier projects, reflecting the company’s practical and long-standing commitment to sustainability. Its modular design also means it can be taken apart and rebuilt. The cabin’s next stop will be Downtown Design Riyadh early next year.

To bring an authentic Swedish touch to the experience, Nordic Homeworx also teamed up with Dos Hermanos and Bolle to serve proper Swedish Fika inside the cabin.. Freshly baked cinnamon and cardamom buns and freshly made coffee added to the homely atmosphere making the Nordic Cabin one of the most popular installations at Downtown Design Dubai.

With over 70% of Sweden covered in forest, the country’s principle of Allemansrätten, or the right to roam, continues to influence how Nordic Homeworx thinks about nature and the idea that everyone deserves to feel at home, wherever they are. Bringing a small piece of that mindset to Dubai was the goal behind the Nordic Cabin, a simple, grounded space for visitors to step into and experience a moment of calm. A feeling of home.
