Hej SBC Member!
Who is Nicholas John Rosenberg Kjær?
I was born and raised in Vejle, Denmark, where I developed a strong foundation in teamwork, responsibility, and a down-to-earth approach to work and life. I studied engineering at the University of Southern Denmark, specializing in automation and robotics and later complemented this with a business diploma in economics. This mix of technical and commercial education has shaped the way I lead, helping me bridge strategy, people, and performance in a very practical way.
I am very fortunate to share life with my beautiful wife and our amazing young boy that makes every day an adventure. Family is extremely important to me and gives me both perspective and balance, especially in a career that involves international roles and constant change. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through mountain biking, sailing, skiing and running. I have completed nine marathons, which reflects my belief in commitment, endurance and setting long-term goals and seeing them through.
Congratulations on your recent appointment as CEO of Volvo Group Middle East and Managing Director of Volvo Trucks Middle East & Turkey.
What are your main responsibilities in these roles, and which key strategies are you currently focusing on?
In these roles, my main responsibility is to ensure that we continue to build a strong and resilient Volvo Group and Volvo Trucks business across the Middle East and Turkey. A key priority for me is to continuously strengthen relationships, both with our business partners and with our much-valued customers. This region is built on long-term partnerships, trust and mutual respect. Maintaining close, open dialogue is essential to our shared success.
The Middle East and Turkey are an extremely important region within Volvo Trucks International and a key contributor to our long-term ambitions. My focus is on working closely with our importers, dealers and internal teams to ensure alignment on direction, consistency in execution and a clear customer-centric mindset across all markets.
From a strategic perspective, I am concentrating on creating a solid business foundation through operational excellence, strong leadership and disciplined decision-making. At the same time, we continue to integrate sustainability in a practical and responsible way, ensuring it supports customer needs and long-term business development. Throughout all of this, Volvo’s core values of quality, safety and environmental care guide how we act, how we partner and how we build lasting trust in the markets we serve.
You have spent almost 25 years with Volvo Group, building a long and diverse career within the organisation.
Looking back, which initiatives or moments stand out as the most meaningful or impactful for you?
Been a leader for different teams in the Volvo Group in different countries with various cultures, the personal highlights are culturally based. It has been a pleasure to learn so many different places to know and work with many different nationalities. At the same time see that the Scandinavian ways of working can lift all organizations to better performance and engagement, as well as see our values, as empowerment, diversity and social responsibility, works well everywhere when they first are well implemented. Looking back there are many highlights, but the best ones are seeing how talents have performed and seeing previous team members deliver and utilize their talents that I believed and invested in.
How has your experience been working for a Swedish company like Volvo Group?
Which company values do you personally treasure the most?
Working for a Swedish company like Volvo Group has been a very positive and grounding experience throughout my career. There is a strong sense of trust, openness and respect for people, combined with a clear focus on long-term thinking rather than short-term gains. This creates an environment where leaders are encouraged to listen, collaborate and take responsibility, which leads to better discussion, decisions and stronger teams.
I personally treasure and strongly align with quality, as it is about doing things right the first time and always keeping our promises to customers and partners. Safety is equally important to me and, as a family man, it goes far beyond our products and extends to how we care for our people and those around us. When I look at my son, I am also reminded that environmental care is a personal responsibility and a commitment to helping create a positive future for the generations to come. Together, these values guide how I work, how I lead and how I build trusted relationships in every market we operate in.
Looking ahead, what are your aspirations or dreams for your career and personal life?
In the new position in Middle East and Turkey a dream has come true, working with many different markets, various different cultures, where I can benefit from my retail and sales experiences in added regions and markets. I enjoy having a more strategic position as previously and, in a region, where changes happen instantaneously. That will careerwise have my full focus. In the Middle East two days are never the same and there are loads of opportunities in this role and the markets here.
As all fathers, I want to see my son grow, be happy and successful in life. It is a privilege to be able to give him a good start in life, in a safe environment, where he can experience all the local cultures and multinational environment. I am sure the environment, with different languages learned, will be a great ballast for him in the future he will explore.
